New support group for people with early onset macular degeneration
The Macular Society is launching a new online support group for people with early onset macular degeneration (EOMD).
EOMD, also sometimes called early onset macular drusen, is a rare form of macular degeneration which begins to affects individuals at a younger age, compared to AMD. Its early onset suggests a prominent role for genetic rather than environmental factors in its development and it is also seen to run in families.
The first meeting will be held on Thursday 8th February via Zoom. To find out more and register, visit the Macular Society website.
The Society already runs a number of support groups for people with the less common forms of macular disease: diabetic macular oedema, myopic macular degeneration, Sorsby's fundus dystrophy, Best disease and Punctate Inner Choroidopathy (PIC). Each group meets monthly via Zoom and is an opportunity to find out more about the condition, and meet others who are affected. You can find full details on the Macular Society website.
