Falls Awareness Week 2025

Monday 15th September is the start of Falls Awareness Week 2025 in Wales, when Age Cymru, Care & Repair Cymru and Age Connects Wales remind people that falls are not an inevitable part of ageing, and give advice on how they can be avoided.

This year’s Falls Awareness Week theme celebrates the grassroots nature of falls prevention work. Across the week, events will take place in towns and villages – ensuring that advice, support, and practical help are within easy reach for older people and their families. These include a Falls Prevention Event on Thursday 18th September from 10 am to 12 pm at the Wellbeing Hub in Wrexham, where Vision Support will be among the participants. Looking after your eyes and making sure that you wear glasses with an up-to-date prescription, can help to reduce the risk of falling, and eye examinations are free if you are aged over 60.

Older residents across Powys will now be able to access a dedicated Falls Prevention Service, launched this month by Care & Repair Powys to coincide with Falls Awareness Week. You can find out about the new service here.

You can find out more about the dangers of falling, and access a range of resources to help you (or the person you care for) avoid falls on the Care and Repair Cymru website.
