Glaucoma Awareness Week 2024

24th to 30th June is Glaucoma Awareness Week 2024, the annual opportunity to encourage people to talk about the condition. This year's event is focusing on the fact that glaucoma runs in families.

There is at least a four-times higher risk of developing glaucoma if you have a close blood relative who has it. And even having a more distant relative with glaucoma can give you some increased risk. This means it’s even more important to have your eyes tested regularly.

Glaucoma UK is the charity that provides help, information and support to anyone affected by the condition and professionals working with them. This support includes a range of literature, support groups, a telephone helpline and a buddy scheme.
