RNIB Connect Cymru Telephone Groups

RNIB Connect Cymru's telephone groups continue to meet. The latest changes are that a new Newport Valleys Phone Group has started, and the Campaigns Group and LGBT+ Group are not running at the moment.

The current schedule is:

  • Gardening Group (Wales and South West England): meets fortnightly on Tuesdays, 11am to 12pm.
  • Monthly Book Club: second Tuesday from 2pm to 3pm

  • Fiction Book Club, first Tuesday of the month at 4.30 pm.
  • Non-fiction book group, fourth Monday of the month at 4.30 pm.

  • Art Club UK: every Monday 11am to 12pm
  • Blind and partially sighted parents support group: second Wednesday of the month from 1pm to 2pm
  • Powys social group: Fortnightly on Thursdays from 2pm to 3pm
  • Crafters Chat group: Mondays from 2pm to 3pm
  • Rusty Welsh speakers: meets fortnightly on Wednesdays, 10.30 am.
  • Listening book group, third Thursday of the month from 2pm to 3pm.

  • Sports Chat, third Tuesday of the month from 2pm to 3pm.
  • TV and Film Group: Fortnightly on Wednesdays from 2pm to 3pm
  • Women with Vision (for young blind or partially sighted women in Wales and the South West from diverse cultural backgrounds), first Thursday on the month from 1pm to 2pm
  • Wales and South West Working Age Group video calls (aged 18 to 50 years): fortnightly on Thursdays from 6.30 pm - 8 pm.
  • South Wales Valleys Phone Group: every Friday from 2pm to 3pm.
  • Newport Valleys Phone Group: every Thursday from 2 pm to 3 pm

  • Mission Ambition: Every Wednesday afternoon, 2pm to 3pm.
  • Tech Talk and Support phone group: Every Monday, 11.30am to 12.30pm.
  • Southwest Quiz: Wednesdays from 7pm to 8pm.

One-to-one calls: In addition to the telephone groups, RNIB Cymru have a small number of volunteers who have been trained to be telephone befrienders. They can call isolated blind and partially sighted people once a week, for a friendly chat with someone who is prepared to listen and be supportive. Please contact any of the community connection coordinators to find out more.
