Action needed to ensure older people don't miss out on Pension Credit

The Older People's Commissioner for Wales is calling for action to ensure that pensioners in Wales don't miss out on Pension Credit, the benefit that provides extra money to help with living costs to people over State Pension age on low incomes, topping up a single person’s weekly income to £182.60 (£278.70 for couples).

Receipt of Pension Credit can also give access to further financial support, including council tax discounts and help with housing costs, free dental and eye care, and free TV Licences for people aged 75+. It is estimated that up to 80,000 eligible household in Wales are not claiming the benefit.

You can read the Commissioners briefing here. You can also find out more about Pension Credit and how to make a claim on the UK Government website.

RNIB also has information on the benefit which you can read here.
