RNIB's Project 35 seeks people aged 18 to 34 to help shape its future (voluntary roles)

RNIB’s Project 35 is designed to explore several possible futures, over the next 10-years, examining what these futures could mean for people with sight loss, for RNIB, and how the charity should respond. By looking at various futures, trends and insight, the project aims to help RNIB actively shape its future and position itself for success in a rapidly changing world. The project is being delivered by a small team of RNIB experts and delivery specialists. Alongside this, RNIB would like to create a panel (Project 35) made up of individuals with lived experience of sight loss who are able to imagine and advocate for the needs of blind and partially sighted people in future contexts and want to hear from people aged between 18 and 34.

Together, the Project 35 team will work from mid to late-July to end August 2025. Based on the outcomes of this work, there may be further opportunities for you to get involved. RNIB are looking for people who:

  • Are curious about what the future might hold – people who enjoy thinking about how the world is changing, imagining different possibilities, and exploring what those changes could mean for people with sight loss.
  • Are comfortable thinking about the lives and needs of people whose experiences might be very different from your own – to help amplify the voice of future blind and partially sighted people.
  • Have different degrees of sight loss, including Registered blind / Severely Sight Impaired; Registered partially sighted / Sight impaired; have a visual impairment, but not registered and have correctable sight loss
Project 35 will be delivered through monthly activities from mid-July to end August 2025. The time commitment for each activity will vary and activities may include workshops, focus groups, short discussions (including email communication), elements of co-design and helping to input into strategic decision making, as appropriate.

Benefits for participants are:

  • A chance to develop your skills and widen your experiences.
  • A chance to input into a major period of change for the RNIB.
  • A chance to represent the customer voice in these discussions.
  • The opportunity to work alongside staff and peers
If you are interested in getting involved, please complete the form here.

There will be a selection process to make sure there is a good demographic spread within the group. We will let everyone know if they have been successful or not. For any queries, blind and partially sighted people can contact Mandy Owens at mandy.owens@rnib.org.uk. The closing date for applications is 11th July.
