RSBC Connecting Families Online Support Sessions - March and April sessions

Connecting Families is a series of online group sessions organised by the Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC) which are designed to bring together parents and carers of children and young people with vision impairments.

Because the challenges and questions parents face change as their child grows, RSBC have created four age-specific Connecting Families groups; Early Years, Primary Years, Secondary Years and Post-16 . The dates of the meetings in March and April are:

  • Early Years: Play and Habilitation – 24th March. This session will focus on practical ways to encourage development through play, toys, and sensory resources.  More information and sign up here. The April session will be on 22nd.
  • Primary Years: Transitioning to Secondary School – 18th March. This session is for parents and carers of vision impaired children as they navigate the important transition to secondary school. With councils sending offers of secondary school places to families in March, this is a perfect time to prepare for the next big step. . More information and sign up here. The April session will be on 14th.
  • Secondary Years: Accessible Tech and Safe Tech Use – 10th March. This session will explore technology that supports learning and independence during the secondary school years. More information and sign up here. The April session will be on 21st.
  • Post-16: Post-16: Navigating Exams – 15th April. This session is about 'Exploring University'. More information and sign up here.
There is a WhatsApp Group attached to each Connecting Families group for general questions and chat with other parents and carers as well as a closed Facebook page for parents and carers. You do not need to attend the online groups to have access to the WhatsApp groups.
