RSBC Connecting Families Online Support Sessions - bringing parents and carers together

Connecting Families is a series of online group sessions organised by the Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC) which are designed to bring together parents and carers of children and young people with vision impairments.

In late 2025, RSBC’s Family Support team held focus groups with parents and carers to explore their needs for Connecting Families. They shared ideas for new topics, speakers, and session structure and their input has shaped plans for 2026. Because the challenges and questions parents face change as their child grows, RSBC have created four age-specific Connecting Families groups; Early Years, Primary Years, Secondary Years and Post-16 . The dates of the next meetings are:

  • Early Years: Emotional Wellbeing – 25th February. This session will focus on understanding emotional wellbeing for both children and families, helping parents and carers to build a strong foundation for their child’s development. More information and sign up here.
  • Primary Years: Emotional Wellbeing – 10th February. Taking place during Children’s Mental Health Week 2026, this session will help parents and carers support their child’s emotional wellbeing, build resilience, and boost self-esteem. More information and sign up here.
  • Secondary Years: Emotional Wellbeing – 4th February. This session will focus on understanding emotional wellbeing for both children and families, with practical tips for parents and carers to support their child’s emotional wellbeing and look after themselves too. More information and sign up here.
  • Post-16: Independence & Emotional Well-Being – 11th February . This session will explore emotional wellbeing in young people as they take important steps towards adulthood, and how you can support them through this journey. More information and sign up here.
