Network35: Shaping an RNIB for the future

RNIB has been working with a wide range of blind and partially sighted people, over the last 6 months, to understand what the future may look like for them in 2035. They have also helped test some ideas about what a future RNIB should look like. The organisation now wants to build on what they have learned and are seeking your involvement to help shape their future direction further, helping to make RNIB more sustainable, increasing its impact, and reaching even more people who need its support.

The project is being delivered by a small team of RNIB experts and delivery specialists. Alongside this, they would like to create a structured network made up of individuals with lived experience of sight loss who are able to advocate for the needs of blind and partially sighted people. Together, the team will work from January 2025 to August 2026. Based on the outcomes of this work, there may be further opportunities for you to get involved. RNIB are looking for 50 people who are over 18 and live in the UK, and:

  • Are comfortable thinking about the lives and needs of people whose experiences might be very different from your own.
  • Have a desire to help shape the future direction of RNIB
  • Have different degrees of sight loss, including: Registered blind/ severely sight impaired, Registered partially sighted / Sight impaired, have a visual impairment, but not registered and have correctable sight loss.
