Opportunity to join RNIB's Reader Panel
Have you ever read RNIB's Eye Health leaflets? The organisation is looking for people to join their reader panel and help to make the information even better.
The RNIB Eye Health Information service holds over 30 leaflets to help people understand more about their eye condition and treatments. These are available by telephone, email, post and on their website. Most importantly, all eye information has a Patient Information Forum tick mark (PIF) which is an independently assessed certification for trustworthy health information content.
How are blind and partially sighted people involved? RNIB has a Reader Panel of people with sight loss who support them on an ongoing basis. They review eye health information, diagrams, pictures and illustrations, giving feedback on their relevance, and whether the information is easy to understand and accessible for people. RNIB would like to increase the reader panel, bringing in wider representation of people with diverse eye conditions to ensure the information is helpful for all.
You can be part of the panel by volunteering 1-2 hours a month of your time and help to review eye health leaflets and factsheets. Although you don’t need to review every leaflet that you are sent, a commitment of at least 3 leaflets in a 6-month period is required. You can provide feedback by email or telephone. Occasionally RNIB may arrange a group call dependent on what is being reviewed. If so, you would be able to access this by phone, landline, tablet or computer.
If you’d like to take part, please email eyehealth@rnib.org.uk quoting the words ‘Reader panel role’. Please note the closing date is Monday 23rd June.
