Goalball Volunteers / Leaders Course in Carmarthen

Goalball UK is running a one-day Goalball Volunteers / Leaders Course on Saturday 2nd November from 10am to 4:30pm in Carmarthen.

This highly practical one day course is delivered by an approved Goalball UK tutor, and is suitable for both sighted and vision impaired people. There are no pre-requisites for attending the course although anyone under the age of 16 can only qualify as an ‘Assistant Leader’. No prior knowledge or experience is required. The aims of the course are to teach volunteers:

  • How to communicate and guide a person with a visual impairment in a sporting environment
  • How to mark out a goalball court and what equipment is required
  • How to lead an introductory coaching session, including a warm-up and basic attacking and defending techniques
  • The format and rules of the game, including the domestic structure and relevant contacts for further information

There is no formal examination or final assessment but attendees must be present for the full day and demonstrate satisfactory skills in order to receive a certificate. There is a cost of £20 pounds, which will be covered for you by the charity 360Ability Sport. Lunch is provided and lifts are available.

The venue is Sports Centre, University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) Carmarthen Campus, Carmarthen SA31 3EP. If you are interested in attending, please send an email to Steve Jones on stevejones@360abilitysport.co.uk.
