RNIB response to the first report from the UK Covid -19 Inquiry
The first report from the UK Covid - 19 Inquiry, covering Resilience and Preparedness, has been published, and RNIB has issued a response.
The report finds that the UK’s system of building preparedness for the pandemic suffered from several significant flaws and recommends a major overhaul of how the UK government prepares for civil emergencies - you can find out more on the Inquiry website.
RNIB's response highlights that 'that in some age groups blind and partially sighted people were 40 per cent more likely to die from Covid-19 than the general population' and calls on the UK and devolved governments to take urgent action to address the report's findings.
