Research study confirms the benefits of Eye Clinic Liaison Officers (ECLOs)
The British Medical Journal (BMJ) has reported on a study into the benefits of Eye Clinic Liaison Officers (ECLOs) in opthalmology clinics, and concluded that their presence is valuable in streamlining processes within the clinic, particularly in relation to the CVI (Certificate of Visual Impairment) process and providing continuity of care for patients when they were discharged from medical treatment. It also showed that ECLOs optimise efficiency within clinics and improve their effectiveness.
The study, which was carried out by the University of South Wales and funded by RNIB, was carried out at 30 sites within the UK, including two in Wales. You can find out more on the RNIB website, which has a link to the full report.
