Support for veterans with vision impairment from Blind Veterans UK and Deafblind UK
During the annual period of national remembrance, this is a reminder that Blind Veterans UK supports vision-impaired ex-Servicemen and women for life, regardless of how or when they lost their sight and Deafblind UK provides free specialist support to veterans living with reduced sight and hearing.
The support from Blind Veterans UK includes training in strategies to help with independent living, rehabilitation and help with health and wellbeing. It can be provided remotely, via phone and video calls, at home or in your local community. Support is also available for the carers and loved ones of veterans. The charity encourages anyone with a service record and a vision impairment to apply for support, even if you're not sure you meet the criteria, as every application is assessed on an individual basis. For more information, including an eligibility checker, visit the Blind Veterans UK website or telephone call the support team on 0300 111 22 33 or email supporter.services@blindveterans.org.uk.
Thanks to funding from the Veterans Foundation, Deafblind UK provides free specialist support to veterans living with reduced sight and hearing, including Helpline advice, benefits guidance, technology support and social connection services. For more information, click here.
