Help shape fairer design: Designability’s Unfair Index survey is open

Designability (a UK charity) is inviting 10,000 Disabled people across the UK to share the everyday barriers they face — so we can all design a fairer future.

The survey covers:

  • Home life (including managing money)
  • Work, learning, and technology
  • Getting out and about (public spaces and transport)
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Social and community life
  • Online experiences
The results will be used to create the UK’s first Unfair Index — highlighting the barriers that are most urgent, harmful, and possible to fix through better design. The Unfair Index will be published later in 2026. The project has been co-designed with a pan-disability Lived Experience Advisory Panel, so Disabled people’s voices are central throughout. The survey is open to disabled people, neurodiverse people, unpaid carers, and parents of disabled children across the UK.

You can take the survey and learn more on Designability’s website here. The closing date is 27th April 2026.
