Eight Voices in Darkness - Art installation exploring sight loss at Chapter, Cardiff

Claire Nollett and Richard Bowers will present a compelling art installation at Chapter in Cardiff this November, as part of a broader initiative to raise awareness around mental wellbeing and vision impairment. The installation, titled "Eight Voices in Darkness", is designed to explore the emotional and psychological dimensions of sight loss, offering a deeply immersive experience that blends visual art with narrative storytelling.

The installation will be launched at this year's Wales Eyecare Conference and will be accompanied by a workshop focused on exploring sight loss and mental health services. The installation will invite viewers to engage with themes of resilience, identity, and support systems for individuals living with visual impairment. Nollett, a clinical researcher with expertise in psychological therapies, brings a nuanced understanding of mental health to the project, while Bowers contributes his artistic vision, known for blending conceptual depth with striking visual and audio elements.

The collaboration between Nollett and Bowers promises to be a thoughtful exploration, aiming to foster empathy and dialogue around the lived experiences of those with vision loss. The exhibition will run on 6th, 7th and 8th of November at Chapter Arts, Cardiff, and will also be event within the Being Human festival, led by the University of London. It is free to enter, and no booking is required.
