Older People's Commissioner reports on difficulties in accessing GP appointments
The Older People's Commissioner for Wales has produced a report which reveals that changes to the way that GP services in Wales are accessed, and the changing relationships between patients and their practices often make it difficult for older people to find suitable appointments with an appropriate clinician.
The report, 'Access to GP Practices in Wales: Older people’s experiences' is based on a survey (which was promoted in Sylw), to which over 900 people responded, and input from stakeholder organisations. Many of the issues raised will be familiar to people with sensory loss, such as inaccessible communications, and the difficulty of navigating telephone and online systems.
You can find out more, and read the full report, which includes recommendations, here.
