RNIB's Children and Family Services Team in Wales
RNIB's Children and Family Services Team provide a range of support, information and activities for families with a vision impaired child and professionals working with them.
These include:
- A range of online resources and information guides for both families and professionals. These cover a range of topics such as, play and toys, inclusive games and activity guides and emotional support.
- Parents and carers Facebook group: A safe space for parents and carers to connect, ask questions and share their experiences. It also provides a forum where families can keep up to date with events and opportunities in their area and across the UK.
- CPD sessions for professionals supporting learners with vision impairment: RNIB and VIEW offer a range of opportunities for professionals to meet, learn about and discuss the support of learners with vision impairment. The next session is on Wednesday 7th February, from 4pm – 5.30pm.
- Parent Pathways: A free online course for parents and carers whose child has recently been diagnosed with vision impairment which aims to support families and provide information at the early stages of diagnosis. For the latest course dates, click here.
- Information and advice: RNIB's Children Young People and Families (CYPF) Support Officers can provide advice and information to children and young people aged 0-25 years, their families and the professionals who work with them. This service provides advice and guidance on all aspects of family life, early years, education and transition to adulthood. Call the RNIB Helpline on 0303 123 9999 or email us at cypf@rnib.org.uk. Any referrals from Wales will then be passed to the team in Wales and the family will be contacted within five working days.
