Blind Person's Tax Allowance - how to make a claim
RNIB has welcomed the announcement in the Chancellor's Autumn Statement that the Blind Person's Tax Allowance, which is added to an individual’s tax-free Personal Allowance, will be increased next year in line with September’s inflation rate of 10.1%.
People in Wales and England can claim Blind Person’s Allowance if both of the following apply:
- You are registered with your local council as blind or severely sight impaired
- you have a certificate that says you’re blind or severely sight impaired (or a similar document from your doctor)
RNIB's website has more information, and their Tax Advice Service (on 0303 123 9999) can help you make a claim.
