Sight loss charities issue call for the benefit system and employment support to be made fit for purpose for blind and partially sighted people

The UK Government's recent consultation on 'Shaping future support: The Health and Disability Green Paper' has recently closed. In response, seven sight loss charities have issued a joint statement, calling on the government to make major changes to the way that people with vision impairment are treated.

RNIB, Glaucoma UK, The Macular Society, Retina UK, Visionary, the Thomas Pocklington Trust and Vision Foundation are calling for action to be taken to break down the barriers that vision impaired people face in negotiating the benefits system, and finding employment. You can read the joint statement here.
