World Braille Day 2021
To mark World Braille Day on Monday 4th January, we have put together some information on this tactile writing system.
- Sense has produced a blog on braille, and how it works, which you can read here.
- The Pocklington Trust explores the use of braille today, comparing the perspectives of people who actively use braille now and those who do not. Find out more on their website.
- RNIB helps to keep braille alive, for example by providing training and a transcription service (including into Welsh). See their website to find out more.
- RNIB Bookshare, which produces braille books for those in education, has information about how it can be used to help learners, which you can read here.
- Within the UK, The Braillists Foundation is is a grass-roots community group connecting braille readers with braille technology developers and funders. It promotes and supports the use of braille.
