Audio Description Tour at the National Museum: Dippy on Tour

Dippy, the Natural History Museum’s iconic Diplodocus dinosaur skeleton, has come to Cardiff! Come and meet him in this special Audio Description tour on 12th December.

As part of a road trip across the UK, Dippy is venturing out of London for the first time since 1905, and is currently residing at the National Museum Cardiff. He is on a mission to inspire five million natural history adventures, encouraging everyone to explore the natural history collections and biodiversity right on your doorstep in Cardiff. Dippy is cast from a near complete skeleton discovered in Wyoming, America in 1898. The specimen is made up of 292 bones and is an impressive 21.3 metres long, 4.3 metres wide and 4.25 metres high.

This special audio described tour is for visitors who are blind or partially sighted, and takes place from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday 12th December. A sighted companion is welcome to accompany you on the tour. The Museum can offer a limited amount of guided assistance, but please let them know when you book if you require this. Guide Dog puppy walkers welcome too! Places are free, but booking is essential. To make a booking, or for more information, please contact the National Museum on 029 2057 3240.
