Macular Society peer support group for parents

The Macular Society now has a peer support group for parents of children with juvenile macular dystrophies.

The group is designed to give parents and guardians the opportunity to share their experiences and discuss concerns they may have regarding their child’s development. The group meets by telephone once a month and the discussion is very much lead by the parents on the call but include subjects like education and schooling, social activities and the emotional impact of having a child with sight loss. The peer support that the group offers is invaluable to its members as there is a low incidence of Juvenile macular dystrophy and speaking with another parent can reduce feelings of isolation.

If you would like to join the Macular Society Parent Telephone Support Group, please call the Advice & Information Line on 0300 3030 111.
