Importance of research highlighted in Macular Week 2019 (24th to 30th June)

This year's Macular Week started on 24th June, and the Macular Society released a short film which tells the story of a young family affected by the condition. The mother has an inherited form of the disease and arranged for her three young sons to be tested. She describes how awful it was to discover that two of them were also affected.

The film makes a powerful case for the importance of research into the condition, and you can play it here.

The Macular Society is the UK charity which supports people affected by macular conditions, and also funds research. It runs support groups across Wales and provides a wide range of services and resources including telephone counselling, 'skills for seeing' training and literature. For more information, visit the Society's website, or ring the Advice and Information Service on 0300 3030 111.
