Welsh Government announces investment to transform eye care

The Welsh Health Minister Vaughan Gething has announced an investment of £3.3 million to transform eye care services, and ensure that the treatment of those with the highest risk of blindness is prioritised. This follows concerns about waiting times.

From April 2019, new guidelines will require hospital eye services to have procedures in place ensuring patients receive their assessment or treatment by the most suitable person within a clinically appropriate time. This means that those high risk patients who need be seen quickly due to their condition, should experience fewer delays. For more information, visit the Welsh Government website.
