'Making Nature Accessible' - Guide from British Blind Sport

Walking is a great form of exercise, yet lack of accessible footpaths in rural environments and traffic and noise in urban areas can make this challenging for people with sight loss. Now, British Blind Sport (BBS), in association with 'Walking for Health' and the Universities of Sussex and Exeter, has produced a guide to supporting people with vision impairments to participate in group walks.

The guide gives some general information on sight loss, and the benefits of walking. It then gives tips on how local group walks can be made safe and welcoming for vision impaired people, and how to set up an accessible walk. To find out more and read the guide, visit the BBS website.

This is the latest in a series of guides produced by BBS which are intended to make sport accessible. Other topics covered include football, athletics and archery. For full details, click here.
