National Eye Health Week 2018

This year's National Eye Health Week was 24th to 30th September. The event promoted the importance of eye health and the need for regular sight tests for all. Each day had a different theme:

As part of the event, organiser Eye Health UK has released a map highlighting areas of the UK which are at the greatest risk of sight loss due to low uptake of eye tests and high prevalence of poor lifestyle: these include Wrexham and Swansea. You can find out more here.

The Macular Society has launched a 'Sight Matters' kit as part of the week, which you can order on their website.

Fight for Sight has published its Top Tips for healthy eyes.

The Vision Matters website has information about the event, and a range of electronic resources, including leaflets, poster, fliers and recipe cards are now available from the Electronic Resource Centre.

Wales Council of the Blind will be using Twitter to promote eye health during the week with #EyeWeek. If any organisations are planning events in Wales to promote eye health during the week, let us know and we will publicise them for you via our Twitter feed.
