Electronic Programme Guides to be made more accessible

OfCom, the UK's communications regulator, has announced changes to TV broadcasters' on-screen guides which should make them more accessible to people with vision impairments.

Electronic Programme Guides (EPGs) help people to plan their viewing, but can be difficult to use for people with sight loss. Under the new EPG Code, broadcasters will be expected to use 'reasonable endeavours' to secure, so far as practicable, that their EPGs include facilities such as text-to-speech and magnification as standard, and will also be required to produce annual reports on the accessibility of their programme guides. To find out more, visit the OfCom website.
