'Matching income with needs' - New research from TPT

The Thomas Pocklington Trust has produced new research on the implications of living on a low income for people with a vision impairment in the UK. It has been conducted in the light of changes to disability benefits and cuts to services.

The research is based on interviews with 26 participants in England who are single and live independently, and cover a range of ages and levels of sight loss. It addresses a range of issues, such as the problems of finding employment, the accessibility of the benefits system, and uncertainty about the benefits of registration as sight impaired/severely sight impaired. It found that participants prioritised core material needs, but that this could mean that participation in social activities was restricted.

For more information, and to download a summary of the research findings and the full report, visit the Thomas Pocklington Trust website.
