'Rethinking Veterans': New campaign for Remembrance Day 2017

During the annual period of remembrance, Blind Veterans UK launched a campaign asking the public to rethink who they consider to be a veteran, in a bid to reach the 59,000 people living with sight loss who could be eligible for the organisation's support.

This follows research which found that 54% of the British public do not consider those who completed National Service to be veterans, and a further 57% of the public do not consider those who served in the Armed Forces but who have never seen active conflict to be veterans. Anyone who served in the Armed Forces or did National Service and is now battling severe sight loss can be referred to Blind Veterans UK's free support and services by calling 0800 389 7979.
