Disabled access facilities at football stadia criticised in new report

A report by the UK Government's Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Committee has criticised the 'shocking lack of provision for supporters with disabilities of all kinds, including in some cases a failure even to train staff in basic disability awareness'.

Regarding supporters with vision impairment, the report found that, although the start-up cost of a full Audio Descriptive Commentary Service is only £4,000 per club, 65% of the 92 top level football clubs do not provide it. The report concludes that despite their considerable income, clubs are not giving priority to their disabled fans, and has said that it will support the Equality and Human Rights Commission if it starts legal proceedings against clubs that continue to flout the law.

You can find out more, and read the full report, on the DCMS website.
