Pilot project will provide wet AMD treatment closer to home

The Welsh Government has announced that four pilot projects are being set up to provide treatment for people with wet Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) in local communities, where they will be delivered by optometrists and nurses, overseen by an ophthalmologist. The pilot areas are Gwent, Cwm Taf, West Wales and Powys.

The aim of the project is to provide treatment for patients more quickly and closer to home, whilst freeing up the time of hospital-based ophthalmologists to manage patients with the most complex conditions. To read the full announcement, click here
